What we collect

If you only use the assessment: nothing about you. The tool runs in your browser and the report is generated without us collecting or storing your name, email, phone, or answers. We keep an anonymous tally of how many people arrive, start an assessment, finish one, download a report and — where matching isn't live yet — say they'd use it. Each entry holds only what happened, when, and the town our content network reports the request came from. No answers, no name, no email, no phone, no IP address, no cookie. We keep the town only to check our ads are reaching the area we paid for; it cannot be traced back to a person.

If you ask to be contacted by a contractor: your name, phone, email, ZIP code, your assessment answers, and a record of the consent you gave (the exact wording shown, the time, your IP address, and the list of companies named).

Proof of consent

On the contact-request step only (never during the assessment), we use TrustedForm (ActiveProspect) to record what was displayed on that page and what you clicked. It creates a certificate showing the exact wording you agreed to. We keep it, and share it with the company that receives your request, so that what you consented to can be independently verified rather than simply asserted by us.

If you take the assessment and download the report without asking to be contacted, this never runs.

Who we share it with

One company. Your details go to a single business chosen from the named list shown on the consent checkbox, never to all of them, and never to a company that wasn't named before you agreed. Our system refuses to send your details to anyone not on that list.

We also use service providers to operate the site (hosting, database, email and text delivery, phone-number validation). They process data on our behalf and may not use it for their own purposes.

Advertising

We measure ad performance with Meta, but we do not send your email address or phone number, not even in hashed form. Meta receives only the fact that a conversion happened and its estimated value, never your identity.

Maps

The storm map on our homepage loads its street map from OpenFreeMap, using OpenStreetMap data. As with loading anything from another website, your browser sends them your IP address to fetch the map pictures. We don't send them anything else, and the map doesn't use cookies.

How long we keep it

Your assessment answers and lead record: 12 months, then automatically deleted by a scheduled daily job, not on request.

The record of your consent: 5 years. This is the narrow exception, and we want to be straight about why. Federal telemarketing rules require consent records to be kept for five years, and if anyone ever disputes whether you agreed to be contacted, that record is the evidence, for you as much as for us. It holds your name, number, the exact wording you saw, and when. It is never used for marketing, and it is never sold: using a compliance record for anything else is itself prohibited.

Opt-out records are also kept, for one reason only: without them we couldn't keep honouring your opt-out.

Your choices

You can stop our contact, tell us never to share your details, or have your data deleted: at any time, with no account and no reason required. Requests take effect immediately.

Two limits we should name. If a contractor already received your details, we can't delete their copy. Contact them directly, and tell us so we stop sharing in future. And a deletion request removes your lead record but not the consent record described above, which we are required to retain; it stays out of all marketing either way.
